Verizon Wireless Unboxes The Chocolate
I feel like I’m gaining weight just listening to all the hype about LG’s Chocolate phone (already a huge hit worldwide). It officially rolls out today from Verizon Wireless, with all the VZW signature features such as V CAST, V CAST Music, and VZ Navigator(SM), in a very slick slider design.
Some of the pertinent specs (in case you’ve forgotten):
- Music player with customizable audio effects and UI player themes (supports mp3 and WMA formats)
- Speaker for music
- Dedicated music key for easy access to playlists
- microSD memory port — store music, customer generated pictures, video and sounds
- 1.3 mega pixel camera and camcorder with up to 2x digital zoom
As part of the rollout, Verizon Wireless also announced a raft of accessories (what’s a new toy without accessories?) including a Music Essentials kit with stereo headphones, software and USB cabling, and an Altec Lansing speaker setup.

[...] Meanwhile, the LG Chocolate is now White Chocolate, looking even more iPoddish than usual in white, until you slide open the keypad. Not willing to leave well enough alone, we’re also going to be able to choose from lime green and metallic red versions (pictured at the top). [...]

[...] However, some reconfiguration would be necessary for the U.S. market, since Cingular (and to some extent T-Mobile) depend on 850MHz GSM capability. And currently, LG’s Chocolate is exclusively Verizon Wireless, which is a CDMA carrier, and can’t use GSM phones at all. So for now this tasty new LG phone will be best enjoyed in Europe and elsewhere. [...]
