Mobile Ringtone now in Billboard Magazine

The mobile ringtone industry is such a huge money making industry. I’ve done a quick check on how many searches done last May and here are some of the figures.

(note: This is from Overture/Yahoo searches only. Google’s figures would be anywhere from twice to 5x the figure.)

50788 verizon ringtone
49720 sprint ringtone
36185 motorola ringtone

Now, ringtones goes into Billboard Magazine.

Billboard magazine — known for its charts on airplay, box office grosses and more — now recognizes hot ringtones with a weekly Top 40 list.

And the Recording Industry Association of America, the trade group that represents the U.S. recording industry, began last week citing gold and platinum winners. It decides the awards based on how many ringtones have been downloaded.

Hmm…better do some research on how to enter the mobile ringtone market.  Probably there’s some ringtone affiliate program somewhere we can use.  What do you think?
