EU set to ban mobile roaming charges
Good news for the European Union community and bad news to the European union telecom providers.
A spokesman for the European Union telecomunications commissioner advised that they would make a legislation to stop roaming charges. This is to protect the EU consumers from the high price of roaming charges.
Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile announced plans to cut the cost of roaming charges hoping this would undermine the case for EU legislation.
Should this legislation push through, Mobile operators earnings would be cut by some 6%.
Arun Sarin, Vodafone chief executive, said the company was providing “a platform for sustainable, lower retail prices across Europe in the future. We believe the market is the best way to meet customer needs, not regulation.”
