Cingular Gets Exclusive Dibs On Apple’s iPhone

The ad pictured here is not for real. It was made up by a British magazine as a just for fun wouldn’t-it-be-neat exercise.
But Apple’s iPhone project is, it appears, absolutely for real.
Sources are telling Think Secret that Cingular will have a six month exclusive on Apple’s rumored iPhone at the launch, sometime early in 2007.
The report isn’t a huge surprise, since Cingular had the exclusive on the Motorola ROKR, the first phone that had integrated iTunes.
The new iPhone is expected to be a candybar form factor, with 2.2 inch display, 3 megapixel camera and “robust” iTunes and iSync support. And GSM, of course, if it’s going to be on Cingular.
Nothing yet about pricing, although if Apple is going to meet its internal estimates of 25 million units to be sold next year alone, it’s going to have to be at a semi-reasonable price.
