Is There Really Going To Be A PlayStation Phone?

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

The world of pocket gaming and of mobile phones seem to be quite abuzz with a rumor that quickly spreading. This is about that piece of information that says there is soon going to be a PlayStation phone.

During the Leipzig Games Convention, people were quite interested to learn more about the rumor. And when Peter Ahnegard, the head of games for the company behind the PlayStation, appeared, attendees were itching to ask him to tell all about the rumor. Of course, we all would want to know if it’s just another rumor or if it’s something we should all look forward to.

You know what he said?

“It’s obviously something that we’re looking at, but right now I can’t really comment. Before Christmas, certainly… but exactly which Christmas I can’t confirm!â€?

Now that answer is really something! I mean, it’s got wit. It’s got humor. It’s got this little hook which still takes away the attention of listeners and gets them speculating. Still.

Nokia Still No. 1

Friday, August 10th, 2007

It does look like Nokia is on a roll. According to the most recently report about the industry, Nokia still owns the greatest amount of share in the whole market. The report which was released last Thursday talked about just how much Nokia was able to hold firmly to the number one spot with a market share of 37%.

Motorola which used to own the 2nd spot now moved lower and would now have to live with being in the third place. It is Samsung who moved upwards and took over the second spot. Motorola was able to achieve 13% while Samsung took on 13.7%.

Coming in at the fourth spot is Sony Ericsson who holds 9.1% and LG Electronics finds 7% and takes on the 5th rank.

These mobile phone makers’ industry shares are moving quite unpredictably and we sure would like to know next time who’s going to be ranking first and who’s going down to the very last.

Sorry. No Sony PSP Mobile Phone.

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

As I have told you a blog post ago, there are rumors going around that Sony Ericsson may be in the process of developing a PlayStation Portable (PSP) mobile phone. However, it does look like the rumors have just been busted.

What happened just recently was that the company did send word to Reuters and it informed the news agency that although they are currently working on new mobile phones to bring to the market, the PSP mobile phone is surely not one of those. However, the company also did do say that they may not be working on such a product at present but they are not going to close their doors on it.

Merran Wrigley is a spokesperson for Sony Ericsson and she affirms, “We are continually evaluating other propositions but they have to be credible. We are not interested in sticking parts on phones that destroy the brand equity that has been built up by Sony.

Sony Ericsson’s Small Detailed S500

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Small detailed. That is one feature that Sony Ericsson is proud about when it comes to one of their newest creations. And the company also maintains that this mobile phone of theirs is going to shine above the rest although there are people who do say that this new unit looks very much like the Walkman units that the company has already sent out months previously.

Owning the Sony Ericsson S500 is like owning something that you can totally personalize. You are given a range of color choices and display options so as to suit your taste and style. The phone also has been engineered and designed so much so that it can change colors when the day turns into night.

You can play various media files using this one and as long as you have the same software on your computer, transferring of files would be no big deal. It also comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera as well as the capacity to have an additional Memory Stick added.

Friday, April 6th, 2007

…stylish? Fun? Sporty?

You see, according to a research study done by the Nielsen Media Research, your mobile phone choice actually has got a lot to say about you. And Jody Loughlin, the associate director of Nielsen, does continue to explain that “all makes of mobile phone had a wide spread of customer types, but some customers were more attracted to certain brands than others.

Loughlin also does continue, “It’s clear that many Australians chose a phone that says something about them, and that the type of mobile you’re seen with could even be more important than whether you’re with Telstra, Optus, Vodafone or one of the other major carriers.â€?

And as Nielsen does some categorizing and classifications, here is the list of the top five mobile phone brands and what they tell about its owner:

  • Nokia - the choice of family-minded, middle aged managers
  • Motorola - favored by fashion conscious under 24s
  • Sony Ericsson - for ambitious young men trying to make their mark
  • LG - favored by moms
  • Samsung - for young women focused on their career

    Monday, February 12th, 2007

Curtains Down For The Sony Ericson W51S

    Thursday, February 8th, 2007

Sony Ericsson has been known for producing sumptuous mobile phones and the market has surely eaten up whatever dish the company has set out at the table. And now, it looks like the industry is going to be quite happy once again with the latest offering that Sony Ericsson has just most recently unveiled in Japan.

The company calls the new mobile phone the Sony Ericsson W51S and they say that this mobile phone is one that shows off a “back to basics design. Such a claim has been mainly because of the fact that the Sony Ericsson W51S has been created not to be too glamorous to too luxurious but it does have tons of functions and features in store for users.

It has got an OLED display in the front to inform the user if a message, call, or reminder has come up. Plus, it also has got a color display, a 2.0 megapixel camera, and 120MB of internal memory.

Give Your Mobile That Added Zoom

    Friday, January 12th, 2007

You just bought that mobile phone. It is trendy. It has got the sleekest design you have ever seen. It has got also the best combination of features you thought one mobile phone would hold possible.

But as luck would have it (and as your knowledge of cameras go), your new mobile phone just does not have the right amount of luster when it comes to taking photos. Sure, they can capture those memories but they are just not right enough. The photos just seem to pixelize and look not so pretty when you try to zoom the pictures in. In fact, you are not even so sure if your mobile phone has the capacity to zoom up pictures.

If this is your dilemma, then you would most certainly be loving this $19 telescope lens or telephoto lens. You can use this one for a couple of Nokia models or Sony Ericson models. All you need to do is strap the lens right onto the camera lens of your phone and you get a photo that has got a higher quality.

iPhone For The Rest Of Us: Sony Ericsson W200

    Monday, January 8th, 2007

w200.jpgThe creator of the Walkman isn’t taking all this blather about Steve Jobs’ alleged new iPhone lying down.  Sony Ericsson has been tantalizing music-phone fanatics about its upcoming super-slim W880, with an aggressive rumor campaign (complete with press release).

But since that one’s not ready for prime time just yet, Sony Ericsson’s giving us a new entry level Walkman phone to chew on, the W200.

“Entry level” means features like Bluetooth are missing.  It does come with a wired stereo headset,  a Memory Stock M2 micro card slot for music storage, FM radio and VGA camera.  And its respectably sleek appearance means that your kids won’t feel too put off by the fact that you didn’t buy them the highest-priced music phone in the lineup.

As a tri-band GSM (850/1800/1900 MHz) handset it’s a likely candidate for carriers such as T-Mobile or Cingular when it becomes available in mid-year.  “Entry level” should mean reasonably-priced, although details about that are yet to be determined.
