More than just a Hope for the Blind
Thursday, February 28th, 2008
Are you blind? Well, of course, you aren’t, but if you know anybody that is, you can see the way that the struggle in life. Unable to drive cars, maintain proper jobs, or even get into a meaningful relationship is a hard way in life.
Well, that is how it seems to us if we were to lose our eye sight. The thing is that if someone is born blind, then they will never feel less happy than us, nor will they seem depressed about it ever. Think of it like this: Imagine someone describe to you something that you cannot relate to, or even measure to fathom.
Its a pretty simple concept: you just don’t understand what you don’t know about. And sometimes it fears us. Thats a major consistency with humans, we fear what we don’t know.
The only difference between us and blind people is that they are less fortunate because we CAN see. Imagine a world where everyone was blind, life would be completely different than it is today, yet, nevertheless, we would still be striving, and not a single person would be less happy than they are now.
The point is that what if a person who was blind, or who got blind through their life, could regain their ability to see. Thanks to technology, this is close to being possible.
Thanks to some well performed researchers in some institute of Germany (I’m lazy to type out the words
but don’t worry I have it linked) have conjured a cornea that will replace the cornea of blind people, and once regain their ability to see.
Its days such as these where I think that technology stands out the most when it is being put to commercial and beneficial use. Now if only our economy worked that way.
Well, thats our insight here today at 451Press’s Mobility Watch. If you have any comments, please feel free to leave a message. (Any are most welcome and grandly appreciated)
