Helio Ocean 2 Coming Closer

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Helio Ocean 2Helio Ocean 2 arrives at the FCC.

Comments over on Edgadget aren’t overwhelmed by the new little phone but the FCC just added a Pantech OZII dual-slider, which should entice a few Helio fans.

Specs: display, EV-DO, 2 megapixel cam with video, full HTML browser, A2DP support. More specs via Intomobile It seems that Virgin Mobile (NYSE: VM) negotiations aren’t the only thing that Helio is keeping themselves busy with. We’re hearing that the next-generation Helio Ocean will sport a 3 megapixel camera, 30 fps video recording, 1 GB storage, microSDHC card slot for memory expansion, touch-sensitive directional pad, Flash support, and PC sync support - all in the familiar dual-sliding form-factor that made the Helio Ocean such a pleasure to use.

Kind of cool looking with the rounded corners and the slider mechanism hiding the keys, but I can’t help but think it reminds me of a suppository. No offense.

Take The Helio Heat

Monday, March 12th, 2007

It is hot. It is sizzling. It is fiery. It is called the Heat and it is from Helio.

This mobile phone maker, Helio, has announced around a week back that they have a new mobile phone. It is a slider and very slim. Plus it comes in two really interesting colors - black and gold. Black would be best for you if you want to be discreet about your mobile phone and gold would be your best option if you want to be conspicuous.

Helio also did mention that the new Heat has got the standard features you would find on Helio mobile phones. The list does include access to popular MySpace, access to Google Maps, GPS, and internet connectivity via 3G.

The whole package does look sleek and sweet and very practical, especially for you techies out there. You’ll be even more glad to learn that Helio is working on having the phone have access to Wikipedia and Digg.

Cingular Connects With MySpace, Helio Says Just Wait

Monday, December 18th, 2006

cingular_myspace.jpgUntil now, Helio was the one carrier that promised users an enhanced mobile MySpace experience.  That “exclusive” is now history as Cingular Wireless rolls out its own custom downloadable Java application that promises “enhanced functionality”.

“Enhanced functionality” would include the ability to tweak profiles, view and add friends, post photos and blog entries, and send and receive MySpace messages.  Cingular customers were already able to get text message alerts whenever there were postings to their MySpace pages, and that function remains unchanged.

While this capability is free (through a web interface) on Helio, Cingular will be charging you $2.99 a month plus data usage charges.

Helio will also offer its customers a downloadable Java app to access MySpace next year - and - to hear Helio tell it - its application will be waaay better than Cingular’s.

You’re Where? Keep Track With Samsung Drift From Helio

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

samsung-drift-black.jpgHelio goes out of its way to differentiate itself from other wireless carriers - with unique pricing plans, its mobile partnership with MySpace.

Helio’s newest handset is also out of the ordinary.  The Drift from Samsung is a slick, slinky slider with a QVGA screen, stereo Bluetooth, 2 MP camera - plus a whole package of location based services.

There’s turn by turn GPS using Google maps with the latest traffic updates.  There’s also Buddy Beacon, which works when you and your buddy both have capable phones and service.  When your “buddy” turns it on, you can see on the map where your buddy is.

Comes in black or white - $225.
